In my latest YouTube video, I discuss two new developments in my life --

(1) I finally have hit another milestone in my breast growth, and am finally going to start to need a bra for purposes other than my appearance.

(2) I finally have a strategy for keeping my chest-hair under control for as much of the time as possible.

Infighting in the Trans Community

There are enough people outside the trans community who hate us just for being who we are. But what's really ridiculous is that we also have to deal with haters *within* the community!

That's at least what I feel when I learn that the first serious flame-attack against me on YouTube isn't from some right-wing Fundamentalist, but (as I discuss in my latest video) from someone within the trans community!

In my latest video, I explain why I see that it is oh so important to avoid using the terms "transsexual" and "transgender" interchangeably - and go briefly into how important issues get muddled if one makes this mistake.

Overuse of FFS -- the Transsexual Anorexia

Some transsexual women genuinely need Facial Feminization Surgery -- however, there are many transsexual women who don't, yet feel so strongly that they need it that they will pay for it with money that they could have otherwise saved for other things, such as SRS.

In my latest video, I discuss how body-image issues that all women may, when affecting transwomen, be mistaken for transsexual body-immage issues, thus making transition even more difficult than it needs to be.

Delays in Transition - Part 2

Continued from part 1: In part 2 of my rant, I continue discussing how I delayed my transition from male to female for eleven years - and how I feel that those were eleven wasted years of my life.

Transsexuals should transition as soon as they realize that transition is inevitable - and should not delay it past then, or else there will be regret later on. Living your life in the wrong gender-role is a dead-end street.

In my latest YouTube video, I give my advice to Tegan, who is a lovely young transwoman who is at a crossroad and asking for advice as she decides whether to stay in school -- or whether to take a break from school, complete her transition, and then return.

Prejudice Disguised as Religion

Once again, a religious person mentioned that she has trouble supporting my transition because she "Can't go against God's word" -- and I explain how they are basically doing nothing more than discouraging a necessary medical treatment - as transition is very often medically necessary for a transsexual.

Too often, prejudice is disguised as religious faith. Fortunately, not all religious people are like that. Some truly are motivated by faith rather than prejudice.

This year is a special Passover - as when we all celebrate freedom from bondage in Egypt, I (as a male-to-female transsexual) celebrate freedom from bondage to the male gender-role. Click Here to visit this video's YouTube page.

Prompted by learning about the Chinese Birth Calendar --- I explain why society's impatience with the uncertainty of whether a child will be male or female is an unhealthy thing - and especially harmful to intersexed and transsexual babies.

I am sympathetic to Thomas Beatie's desire to reproduce genetically no matter what mode he reproduces by -- but I am concerned about what effect that will have on the trans community as a whole - and I do wish he had taken this into consideration.

Writer's Block: Where in the World...

If you were independently wealthy, where in the world would you live and how would you spend your time?

If I were independently wealthy -- I would want to live in a place (probably within US borders) that is accepting of transsexuals, and which has a healthy job-market. This place might possibly be Seattle, Washington - but I'd have to do some more research to know for sure. (And not being too experienced with this kind of research, I'm still trying to figure out where to start.)

But why would I need a place with a healthy job-market if I was independently wealthy? And why is it so important that that place be within US borders? That ties in to the next part of the question - which is how I would spend my time.

I would work on a charity that I've been interested in starting for some time that I would call the "Railroad House Project". Many transsexuals face a difficult, discouraging, uphill battle to get the money for much-needed medical procedures because in addition to the general trouble that our present-day economy is in, they also are burdened with horrendous discrimination at nearly every avenue.

Many transsexuals are unable to get service-level jobs - because others are "uncomfortable" around them -- and also have difficulty getting education for higher-level jobs because certain schools don't consider it their duty to treat transsexuals fairly. Even accomodations, such as restrooms, that most people take for granted can be a huge stumbling block for transsexuals in certain parts of this country.

These transsexuals many times are unable to leave the parts of the country where they face these discriminations because moving would mean going to a new place where they don't know anyone - don't have a job - and don't have a place to stay until they find one. Ideally, what they tell people who want to move is to first find a job in the place where they want to move to and then move. However, to do that -- you'd first have to get several skills -- which can also be a problem when you live in an area that is "uncomfortable" around you just for being who you are.

This is a vicious cycle - that not all transsexuals can find a way out of. Many transsexuals are forced into jobs of sex-work because of these desparate situations (and I count my lucky stars that that didn't happen to me - for that's what I have to thank, luck). And many transsexuals don't survive.

The Railroad House Project would provide a way to break out of this vicious cycle. It would give a place where transsexuals who are fleeing such discrimination can stay until they get jobs. And to spend my time working on this project - I'd have to live in the kind of area where such a project would have a chance of being helpful.

It would have to be in a place where transsexuals are well accepted - because there's no point in fleeing one discriminatory area just to end up in another. The place would have to have a healthy job-market, because even if there is no discrimination at all, it can be difficult for transsexuals to find work when in a place where nobody can find work.

And it would probably have to be within US borders because anywhere else there's a good chance I'd have the additional obstacle of getting people permission to work as "foreign workers" - which will be an especially significant problem for people who are in the down-and-out situation that those I'd be trying to help would be in.
