It began last Tuesday (about a week ago) on my way home from a weekly appointment. Knowing that there was a good chance of rain, I had brought my umbrella with me. Fortunately, I didn’t have to use it much, as my parents (who were themselves on their way back from doing their groceries) offered to pick me up and drop me at my home. We all knew that this was the start of a spell of cold and snowy weather.
The next days were the coldest – the coldest so far this year I believe, as a matter of fact. I don’t think that it snowed until rather late, but the cold was enough to deter me from venturing outside if I could avoid it, which I could. Cooped up in my house as I was, cabin fever started to eat away at me. On Friday, however, I did leave home. It wasn’t just that the cabin fever was getting to be a bit overwhelming, but also that I had an errand that I needed to perform outside the house.
It was on my way back home that I realized that I was out in the snow for the first time in a year or so. Yes, it had snowed a good few times the previous year, but I had managed to stay indoors each time. This time, however, I was outdoor in this very scenic weather. I wasted no time in getting my camera out to snap some photos.
We are barely into February and, though we know that there is plenty of winter ahead of us here in Philadelphia, for now it feels a lot more like spring. These photographs, though, stand as a memory of a time less than a week ago in which winter actually felt like winter.
I love these rants…
