You might think that a Jewish Atheist has no reason to be afraid of Islamophobia. However, if you think that, then you are wrong.
While legitimate criticism of Islam is indeed a very necessary and important thing – all too often, Islamophobia gets peddled in disguise as such legitimate criticism. While it is important to actively encourage legitimate criticism of Islam – you will be falling into a very dangerous trap if you green-light Islamophobia that tries to sneak in under the disguise of such legitimate criticism.
In this video, I discuss why Islamophobia is dangerous to myself and to many others who are not in the least bit Muslim. Aside from a few words on the matter, I don’t delve much into how to navigate the distinction between the two – though I am open to doing another video on that matter in the near future. I this video, though, I merely focus on why it is important to make that distinction in the first place.
